Nagarjuna's nephew Sushant has been struggling to make a mark as an actor since his debut. His latest outing Adda is yet another disappointment.
What is it about?
Abhi (Sushanth) makes money by separating lovers. Priya (Shanvi) who doesn't like her elder sister (Suhasini) falling in love after getting engaged to Deva (Dev Gill) hires Abhi to separate her sister from her lover (Srinivas Avasarala). Abhi separates them successfully but falls in love with Priya. But here comes a twist in the tale. Now Priya gets engaged to Deva as her sister elopes with her lover.
Performances :
Lot of effort has been put in to groom up Sushant. We can see that change in him. However his performance is a total let down. Except for dances he fails in every aspect. His lack of energy and ease made this film a pain to watch. Shanvi is nice as the glam doll. She can't act too. Dev Gill is awful as the main villain. His body language and facial expressions are terrible. Suhasini of Chantigadu fame is alright and so was Srinivas Avasarala. Young comedians team led by Tagubothu Ramesh did their bit.
Technicalities :
Dialogues written by Karthik Reddy are pretty average. Screenplay is contrived. The plot is pretty weak and the graph of the movie is very uneven. There aren't any high points on screenplay front and the scenes are poorly conceived. Director has chosen a spineless script to make his debut. Music by Anup Rubens takes the cake and Arun Kumar's cinematography deserves a mention. Editing is okay. Except for a couple of songs there is nothing we could rave about in this film.
Analysis :
Adda is a poorly made film which will test the patience of audience right from the word go. Half baked script and pointless direction makes it a terrible watch. Climax of the film is pretty silly. When the hero breaks into his flashback one would split into laughs at that foolish concept. It is shown as if every other couple would run to Registrar office for marriage! Even the arranged marriages takes place at this adda, stupidity!
Director's poor script and weak direction have been glorified by Sushant, who fails to get into the shoes of the character. His character is not etched properly and the director simply ignored including certain important scenes. Why did Suhasini run away at night and married her lover at Sushant's Adda? What happened in between her break up and marriage? Director leaves it to our own imagination. How could one leave out such important points?
There is so much talk about true love in the film, but we won't get a feeling that we are watching a love story. Those fights which were supposed to be funny disappoints big time and eats up a lot of screen time. Adda is a total disappointment and you could safely skip it in theaters.
Verdict : Adda makes you say "Abba" as loud as you can!
