
Parliament Canteens catering to the demands of Member of Parliaments when it comes to delicious food have been offering a subsidy of anywhere between 63 to 90 percent on each items served. Total subsidy obtained in the past 5 years is Rs 60.7 crore and the prices of dishes remained unchanged since December 20th, 2010.
A reply to Right To Information (RTI) query filed by Subhash Agrawal revealed that our Netas And Babus have been relishing delicious items such as Oiled Vegetables for Rs 5 (83 percent subsidised), Masala Dosa for Rs 6 (75 percent subsidised), Mutton Cutlet for Rs 18 (65 percent subsidised), Mutton Curry for Rs 20 (67 percent subsidised) and Fish Fried with Chips for Rs 25 (63 percent subsidised). Roti is the only item that's been sold for a marginal profit. While the raw items cost 77 paisa, It is being sold for Rs 1.
The veg-meal raw items would cost around Rs 41.25 but Parliamentarians get them for Rs 4 at a subsidized price of about 90 percent. Similarly, Cost incurred for non-veg meal raw items is around Rs 99.05 whereas MPs were served for just Rs 33 with 66 percent subsidy. All the Raw Items were procured from Government-run agencies like Kendriya Bhandar, Mother Dairy and etc.,
