Story:

Ammiraju (Mukesh Rushi) and Bhikshapati (Kota Srinivas Rao) head two rival groups in Hyderabad. Vijay (Shreayan Kapoor), a close relative of Ammiraju, falls in love with Bhikshapati's Daughter Sravanthi (Pragathi). Ammiraju sets the rivalry aside and places the marriage proposal before Bhikshapati. How the rival group respond and the damage it caused forms the rest of the tale.

Artists Performances:

Shreayan Kapoor (S/O Jayasudha) is impressive looks-wise. He, however, has to work a lot on his diction, dialogue delivery and histrionics before signing his next movie.

Pragathi does a fine job playing the female lead. Rashmi Gautam's item number is poorly picturized. Kota and Mukesh Rushi are okay. Abhimanyu Singh is ineffective. Ali and Saptagiri failed to evoke laughter.

Plus Points:

- Interval Block

Minus Points:

- Routine Story

- Comedy Tracks

- Lethargic Pace

Analysis:

'Basthi' is a film solely made to launch Shreayan Kapoor as a Hero in TFI. Instead of picking up a novel concept, Makers preferred a routine plot and sub-standard directorial skills made the end product look worse.

Songs have been composed well. Background Score is poor though. Cinematography is just okay. Editing is poor and several scenes could have been trimmed. Production Values are decent.

Director Vasu Manthena appeared he was never in control of the proceedings and the narration was so bad that audience could hardly wait to see The End title card for disappearing from the theatres. It's another case of launch of a Star Kid going terribly wrong!

Box Office: 'Basthi' obtained good screen count but it will be of no use when the content is so bad. Buyers mayn't be able to recover even 50 percent of their investment and nothing could save this launch-pad from biting dust.

Verdict: Thumbs down for Sahaja Nati's Son!
