Two Indian nationals saved 3 year old toddler’s life
Two Indians working in Singapore as construction workers have been lauded as heroes and commended for their bravery act. Subramaniam Shanmuganathan and Ponnan Muthukumar saved the life of a three year old toddler stuck between the rails on a parapet of a second floor apartment block.
Apparently, the girl was playing in her balcony and accidentally slipped out and her head got stuck in between the railings and her body kept on hanging from the ledge. Both are working in the construction sector here and were on a project in the Jurong East estate, a planning area of Singapore near the apartment block from where the toddler was heard crying. Knowing about the mishap, Shanmuganatham immediately rushed to the spot and braved to climb up the two storey building and reached to the girl in no time. Mr Muthukumar followed suit to help him. The brave hearts saved her from getting chocked between the railings as he held her up until she was saved from inside.
Shanmuganatham and Muthukumar will be presented with a SCDF Public Spiritedness Award to “acknowledge the quick thinking and civic-mindedness of the two members of public”.
