Tamil actor Karthi, who has impressed Telugu audiences with few of his dubbed films, is back as Bad Boy. This film is the dubbed version of Karthi's Alex Pandian, which was a dud at Tamil box office. Bad Boy has nothing to impress our audiences except for Karthi and Anushka as the lead pair.
What is it about?
Divya (Anushka) is chased by few goons and she is rescued by Alex (Karthi) and kept in a safe place. They gets chased by the goons and it is later revealed that Alex has actually kidnapped Divya, who is Chief Minister's daughter. The reason for kidnapping her is told after a while and the consequences follow.
Performances:
Karthi, who showed promise in his choice of scripts at the early stage of his career is trying to become masses darling now. His performance is fine but the script is too weak for him to pull it off. Karthi should take a cue out of his brother Suriya, who always sticks to his strengths. Anushka plays a typical damsel in distress role. She is too fat and looked older than Karthi. Santhanam's comedy is outdated. Only people with low sense of humor can laugh at those comedy scenes. Nikitha, Sanusha and Akanksha Puri bores you to death with their drooling over Kathi. There are many baddies in the film and all of them look like a bunch of jokers. Villains provide you unintentional comedy than the comedians.
Technicalities:
Devi Sri Prasad failed to live up to his standards. None of the songs bear his mark. However, good songs might have been wasted in this stupid film and hence Devi is clever enough to save his best. Action episodes are a joke. You have to watch the film to believe how ridiculous they are. Cinematography is standard and editing is alright. Producers poured in so many crores in this film which isn't worth a rupee of all the money spent. Director Suraj expected this film to be a commercial potboiler, but his script and direction goes haywire. This is one of those films where you can see disaster written all over right from the opening scene.
Analysis:
Anushka's factor and Devi Sri Prasad's music besides Karthi's popularity in our state might have prompted the producers to dub this film in Telugu. They should have stalled its release after seeing its fate in Tamil. Karthi is a bigger star in Tamil and he failed to make this a success in Tamilnadu. So they can't expect this film to do wonders in Telugu.
Bad Boy is pretty bad in all aspects. There is not a single element that impresses and all you could do is laugh at this mindless film from start to end. It gets bad to worse as the movie progresses and it will be a big test for anybody to sit through from the title credits to end credits. We have so many bad films made by our own makers and we don't need other language duds to torture us.
Don't dare to step in to the theaters of Bad Boy even if you have great amounts of patience, why because you may lose all of it and turn violent by the time this movie ends. Don't worry about the money lost on the movie ticket and run out of the theaters as early as you can or else you will lose your mind and peace forever.
Verdict: Not just Bad.. He is worse!
